Welcome to Our Garden

Hi, and welcome to my first post. This year I now have three small kids, so I decided to try doing just a container garden. Last year I went a little crazy, and did not do my homework, and I basically failed. It's alright, it was a great learning experience. If I can find the older pics I'll post them.

This is my first ever Tomato bud. It was doing great in a container, but I saw one of those hanging container at Super Dollar. It was $2 and I thought hey what a steal. You know there is always a reason something is $2.

It took me and my seven year old son two hours to get the #$%ing thing up. Of course I had to go all redneck on it. I had to us and existing hanger pot because I can't climb in a chair and he couldn't reach. ARRGH! Then I had to use christmas bows to loop it up there. Which was a *itch. Finally I got it up there and I need like a lot more dirt to fill it up. I keep forgetting to get more. Darn it!

The poor plant is trying to grow but up in the air, but it is designed for the plants to just hang. Ok, so in nature it doesn't. Who the crap invented this? So, stupid.

I started my beautiful tomato plants in homemade 2 Liter bottle starter pots. I found a better version and I plan to use it next year. I'll blog it once I find it again. Here are some wildflowers. I do not suggest getting the boxed one from Dollar General. They are just crap in container, and not really made for that. I got a few flowers though. I don't expect much more from this.

I lucked up and found some peppermint (above), lavender, and sage for $1 at Wal-mart. I had long wanted to try to grow these. They are going to need a little love, and I hope mixing my peppermint with my onions won't hurt. Oh did I mention I am trying to complete the garden from all recycled items?

Here is the sage that I am growing. I can not wait to harvest this and make my first smudge stick. I'll have to look up more things to make with it. I want to get into this big time. I want to try many more kinds like this.

So there you have it. Our Little Garden for 2012. All the pots were old ones on the land, or some I found in the woods, or came with the plants. The only things I purchased were the tomato (crappy) planter, and seeds/soil. Next year I hope that I am in more of a position to use a tiller and do it up right. Lord willing :-) Be Blessed!
